About Liew Chin Tong

Liew Chin Tong is the Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera, Penang in Malaysia’s Twelfth Federal Parliament. He is a Policy Advisor to the Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Lim Guan Eng.

Chin Tong is an Election Strategy Advisor to Democratic Action Party Secretary-General. He is also the General Manager of the Rocket Publications as well as a member of DAPSY National Executive Council.
He is a Director of a research institute and formerly a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore. His academic interests include Political Islam and Political Economy.
Chin Tong has published widely on various issues and is a well-known columnist for newspapers. He frequently appears on TV talk-show programme.
He was also previously a political secretary to the MP for Seputeh, Teresa Kok, and campaign manager for the MP for Bukit Bintang, Fong Kui Lun.
Chin Tong graduated with a basic degree in Political Science and an honours degree in Asian Studies from the Australian National University and his International Masters of Regional Integration degree from University of Malaya.
